As a partner at Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP, Lisa M. Nousek has worked with cases and clients in state and federal courts. When she is not busy with her professional responsibilities, Lisa M. Nousek supports Cat Assistance, a charitable organization that focuses on assisting cats whose owners have had to relinquish them due to personal circumstances.
Cat Assistance receives grants from Maddie’s Fund, which provides assistance to benefit animals that have medical needs. Maddie’s Fund offers various grants that can assist no-kill shelters in sustaining their initiatives. The Maddie’s Executive Leadership Fellowship Program is just one of the grants funded by the organization.
Those who apply for the grant must have at least three years of management experience and be able to demonstrate a commitment to keeping dogs and cats out of kill-shelters. They should also understand how the current shelter system works as well as why it is important to put an end to euthanasia as a means of controlling the pet population. Recipients will spend half a year at Austin Pets Alive and Austin Animal Center, both of which are located in Texas.
